Top 500 is not a rank you hold like a tier — it is a leaderboard, and there is a separate one for each role, plus combined, Open Queue, and Stadium boards, split by region. That means the Top 500 for Tank in your region is its own list, distinct from Damage or Support and from other regions, so a boost targets one specific leaderboard rather than a single global spot. Getting on a board is no longer a matter of playing enough ranked games: since the leaderboard rework, eligibility is decided by Blizzard's Challenger Score system, which scores your high-level competitive play and only lists accounts that clear its thresholds.

Champion vs Top 500 — the last percentile

Champion is the top tier of the ordinary ladder — the ceiling added in the Season 9 rework above Grandmaster. Top 500 sits beyond that: instead of grouping the very best players into one more tier, the leaderboard ranks them against each other by Challenger Score — a score earned through sustained winning at the very top of the ladder.
