Black Ops 7 & Warzone Ranks Explained: Divisions, SR and Resets

Call of Duty runs two ranked ladders at once and they share their names but not their rules. Black Ops 7 Ranked Play is 4v4 Multiplayer on the Call of Duty League ruleset; Warzone Ranked Play is squad Resurgence with an entry fee every match. Both climb the same eight divisions — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent and Top 250 — on a single number, Skill Rating (SR), but how SR is earned, what it costs to queue, how parties are restricted and what a season reset does to you differ enough that most guides get at least one of them wrong. This one is built from Activision's own Ranked Play articles first and third-party threshold data second, and it says which is which.
How ranked works in Call of Duty: one ladder, two games, one number
Everything competitive in Black Ops 7 and Warzone runs on SR. You earn it by winning, lose it by losing, and your division is simply the bracket your SR sits in. There are no hidden MMR placements in the normal sense: your visible SR is your rank. Below Iridescent every division is cut into three tiers, Tier I being the lowest and Tier III the highest — so a climb goes Bronze I → Bronze II → Bronze III → Silver I and so on. Above Crimson III sits Iridescent, a single open bracket with no tiers, and above that Top 250, which is not a bracket at all but a live leaderboard of the 250 highest-SR Iridescent players on your platform pool.
Activision's own article lists the divisions and confirms SR is 'awarded after each Ranked Play win' with the amount 'determined by performance and victory margin' and deducted on losses. The exact SR width of each division is not in that article — the numbers in the table below come from third-party trackers and are labelled as such.
Every Black Ops 7 Ranked Play division and its SR range
The eight divisions in order, with the SR gates reported by Dexerto (third-party; Activision publishes the names, not the numbers):
- Bronze I–III — 0 to ~600 SR. The starting bracket; losses here cost very little.
- Silver I–III — ~900 to ~1,700 SR.
- Gold I–III — ~2,100 to ~3,100 SR. The last division whose rank is untouched by the season rollover.
- Platinum I–III — ~3,600 to ~4,800 SR. From here up you play a placement match each season.
- Diamond I–III — ~5,400 to ~6,800 SR. Party restrictions begin: Diamond players can only party with players within two ranks.
- Crimson I–III — ~7,500 to ~9,100 SR. Parties are capped at two players within one rank.
- Iridescent — 10,000 SR and above, no tiers.
- Top 250 — the 250 highest Iridescent players, recalculated live.
Notice the gaps between brackets (600 → 900, 1,700 → 2,100). Those are the promotion 'jumps': crossing a division line moves you to the floor of the next division, which is why a promotion feels bigger than a single win's SR.
The 50-win unlock and why it matters
You cannot queue Ranked on a fresh account. Activision's rule: 'all players must earn 50 Wins in matchmade Multiplayer games to unlock access to Black Ops 7 Ranked Play' — and 'Party Games and Limited Time Modes don't count'. That is a real grind for a returning or new player, and it is why competitors sell 'ranked unlock' as its own product. On BuyBoosting it is simply the Multiplayer option of the Wins Boosting calculator: 50 wins, priced per win, with the squad-fill option if you would rather play the games yourself with our players in your party.
Party restrictions by division (the rule that trips up duos)
Activision restricts who you can queue with as you climb, and it is worth knowing before you buy a self-play boost:
- Bronze to Platinum: no restrictions.
- Diamond: parties only with players within two ranks.
- Crimson and above: parties of one or two players only, and only with players within one rank.
- Four-player parties: allowed with any mix of ranks as long as every member is Diamond or below.
This is exactly why our Ranked Play boost keeps the squad-fill option available all the way up: our players queue on accounts at the right rank for your bracket, so a Crimson customer gets a Crimson-eligible duo partner rather than a rule violation.
Warzone Ranked Play: Resurgence, 150 SR per match and the deployment fee
Warzone's ranked mode is Resurgence, not Battle Royale, and its economics are different. Activision's article sets a hard ceiling of 150 SR per match, earned from outlasting other squads, eliminations that count for the whole squad, and in-match challenges. From Silver upwards every match charges a Deployment Fee that is deducted the moment you drop — so a bad game in Diamond is not just zero SR, it is minus the fee. That fee scales with division, which is why net SR per hour falls as you climb and why our Warzone Ranked boost prices the upper divisions higher per tier than the Multiplayer ladder. The division names, tiers and the Iridescent/Top 250 ceiling mirror Multiplayer; the SR gates reported by third parties are the same values (Silver 900, Gold 2,100, Platinum 3,600, Diamond 5,400, Crimson 7,500, Iridescent 10,000).
What a season reset actually does
Call of Duty's reset is division-dependent and much gentler than a full ladder wipe. Per Activision: Bronze, Silver and Gold — 'your Rank and SR are not impacted at the start of a new Season'. Platinum and above — 'you must win one Placement Match to get placed into a Rank and start the new Season'. Third-party trackers report that Iridescent and Top 250 players are placed back around Diamond and climb from there. Seasons in the Black Ops 7 / Warzone cycle run roughly two months (Season 5 began 23 July 2026; Season 6 is the final one before Modern Warfare 4 on 23 October 2026). Iridescent vs Top 250: what is sellable and what is not
Iridescent is a rank: cross 10,000 SR and you have it, permanently for the season. Top 250 is a position: you hold it only while fewer than 250 players sit above you, and it moves every hour. That is why BuyBoosting sells climbs up to Iridescent and does not sell Top 250 as a destination — any service that guarantees a leaderboard slot is guaranteeing something it cannot control, and leaderboard sweeps are exactly where RICOCHET's boosting detection concentrates. If you want to push SR inside Iridescent with our players in your party, a custom quote prices it honestly as an hours-and-SR job, not a guaranteed placement.
Rank icons and rewards per season
Every season ends with division-based rewards — the Season 5 set, for example, is tiered from participation up to the Top 250 Champion reward, with Iridescent and Top 250 players receiving exclusive operator skins and weapon blueprints on top of the calling cards and emblems lower divisions earn. Rewards are granted for the highest division you reached during the season, not where you finished, which is one reason a late-season push is popular: the reward is locked the moment you hit the division.
How the rank system changes with Modern Warfare 4
Modern Warfare 4 releases on 23 October 2026. Activision has not announced its Ranked Play date; every recent title has added Ranked Play with or shortly after Season 1, several weeks after launch, so expect a camo-and-leveling launch window first and a ranked window later. Warzone Ranked continues on the same account through the switch. This guide is updated for each ladder change — the divisions listed here are the Black Ops 7 Season 5 set.
