How Power leveling actually works
Destiny 2 Power climbs in two distinct phases, and they demand completely different work. Below the season's soft cap, almost any gear drop can raise you, so the grind is fast and forgiving — play activities, equip whatever comes back higher. Above that point the game stops handing out upgrades from ordinary loot: only pinnacle sources drop gear above your current level, and each one nudges a single slot up by a small margin. That's where a level becomes a coordination problem rather than a time sink.
Efficient pinnacle leveling isn't about grinding harder, it's about routing. Boosters read your gear spread, find the slots sitting below your average, and steer pinnacle drops toward those specific slots first so nothing is wasted — a pinnacle that lands in an already-high slot is a wasted weekly source. Because the top pinnacles reset weekly, the final push to the cap is inherently paced across resets rather than done in one sitting. The exact numbers shift every season and the game is in its final-update era, so we set the target against the current cap live in the calculator instead of quoting a fixed figure that would age out.
