Season 5 dates

Season 5 started on 23 July 2026 at 9am PT (Activision's Season 05 patch notes) and Season 5 Reloaded followed on 20 August 2026. Activision does not publish a season end date in advance; the in-game Battle Pass timer is the only official countdown. Reporting around the next season points at Season 6 arriving in mid-to-late September 2026 — some outlets say 17 September, others early October — so this page carries no end date rather than a guess. What is fixed: Season 6 is the final Black Ops 7 season, and Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on 23 October 2026.

What actually resets in Ranked Play

Call of Duty's seasonal reset is one of the gentlest in ranked shooters, and it is split by division. Per Activision's Ranked Play rules: if you finish a season in Bronze, Silver or Gold, your rank and SR are not touched at all. If you finish in Platinum or above, you play a single placement match and are placed back onto the ladder from there. In practice that means an Iridescent player drops for the first game of a season and climbs back within a session — the reset regenerates demand every ~two months without erasing a climb. The same structure applies to Warzone Ranked, where Iridescent and Top 250 placements also open the season with a placement match.

What never resets

Everything outside the SR ladder is permanent on your Activision account: mastery camos (Singularity, Infestation, Apocalypse, Genesis and the twelve camos below them), Prestige and Prestige Master levels, weapon levels and Weapon Prestige, the nuke calling cards and Champion's Quest rewards, and every Zombies main-quest completion. The one seasonal item is the Battle Pass: its 100 tiers expire with the season, which is why pass orders are the one thing that genuinely has to land before a season ends.

The real deadline: Modern Warfare 4 on 23 October

Black Ops 7 does not disappear when Modern Warfare 4 ships — its Ranked ladder, camos and Prestige stay on your account and playable — but the player base, the Warzone integration and the competitive spotlight move to the new title. Warzone carries straight through on the same account. Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 4 is not expected at launch: every recent title has held it back until Season 1 or shortly after, so the MW4 launch window is a camo, leveling and Battle Pass window first and a ranked window a few weeks later. Our Call of Duty services continue on the same pages through the switch.

How long the climb back takes

Because Bronze to Gold never reset and Platinum+ only play one placement, a season start is not a re-climb from zero — it is a placement plus a short push back to your previous tier. Our Ranked Play boost prices exactly that: pick your placed rank and your target and the calculator prices the tiers between them, with the Play with booster option filling your party so you keep playing your own account. If you never unlocked Ranked, the 50 Multiplayer wins come first.
