Rumors of KennyS Leaving G2 Esports

KennyS has actually been benched from the G2 roster after being in the active lineup for four years. This happened because the team had some pretty underwhelming results recently.

In his place, you’re going to see JaCkz; he returns after being on the G2 bench for three months. With the primary AWP player leaving, Niko is going to be a hybrid Rifler and AWP mixture. This transition is to help accommodate JaCkz within the team.

The Nitty Gritty

Kenny Schrub, known in the gaming world as KennyS has officially been benched from the active lineup (CS:GO) of G2 Esports. In his place, you are going to see Audric Jug, also known as JaCkz. He was recently benched for three months and is now taking KennyS’s spot. With that, KennyS can use this time to explore other options with various organizations.

There was an open AWP role for the G2 team. Nikola Kovac (Niko) is going to be transitioning into a hybrid role of Rifler and AWP. Therefore, G2 is not going to have a dedicated AWP player in its active lineup. Is this going to cause issues? We aren’t sure.

This move came right after the team had pretty lackluster results and a high drop in performance. That was after they took on Niko from Faze in the last part of 2020 and then benched JaCkz back in December.

Bye-Bye KennyS

G2 recently announced that the long-time AWPer is no longer going to play on the CS:GO team in any future matches. Though KennyS might come back later, this is unsure. Ultimately, the French AWP player was moved to the bench after the team suffered pretty bad results throughout the 2020 season.

Though they did well in November, the team moved slowly down to the eighth position by February of this year.

What the Coach Says

The head coach for G2 is Damien Marce (MaLeK). He had a few things to say about the decision to bench KennyS. Though he thinks that KennyS is a pillar for the G2 team and a legend, he feels that the AWPer should look for a new home. Everyone wants KennyS to stay at the top, and that’s not happening for G2 right now. Other team members expressed the same sentiments.

We are sure that they want KennyS to succeed, but we also wonder why they took such a drastic approach. They’re bound to pull out of this slump, but they may not be able to bring KennyS back.
