League of Legends Easter Eggs
League of Legends has been around for over a decade, giving the developers plenty of time to experiment with new features. Riot Games does a fantastic job of keeping their vigilant fanbase entertained by hiding easter eggs in plain sight, whether it's with clever jokes or special encounters.
Here are some League of Legends Easter eggs that may delight both new and old players.
LS is Immortalized by His Favorite In-Game Item
LoL content developer Nick "LS" De Cesare, a recent addition to the game, now has his own Easter egg in the game featuring his favorite object.
Riot Games made Liandry's Salesman a keyword for the item because of his fervent commitment to Liandry's Torment. The item's newest version, Liandry's Anguish, should appear if you check the shop for "last shadow" (LS's original in-game name).
Surprisingly, Morellonomicon, the item's counterpart, also appears as the second item, commemorating the long-running controversy between the two magical objects.
Rylai’s Scepter is Named After a Character in Dota
Fans can grab their pitchforks in defense of League of Legends or Dota 2 in the debate over which is the better PC MOBA; however, no one can deny the fact that LoL owes a lot to the original Defense of the Ancients (DotA) game.
League of Legends has an Easter egg that is dedicated to one of DotA's iconic supports in the item Rylai's Crystal Scepter, thanks to designers such as Steve "Guinsoo" Feak, who also created DotA: Allstars.
The Crystal Maiden's first name is Rylai, and she is a supporting character known for her powerful ice-based disables and slows. The Crystal Scepter's unique Rimefrost passive, which is dedicated to the hero, lives up to its name by slowing units affected by skill damage.
Leona’s Strange Weakness
Another Easter egg, this time in the form of a cosmetic buff that fits around Leona's passive Sunlight.
Due to Leona's use of the sun's power to make allies deal more harm, any champions who wear sunglasses secretly take -1 damage from any kind of Sunlight damage.
While the clever Easter egg works on default champion skins such as Vayne, Riot has gone to great lengths to include exclusive skins such as the Commando skin line and Surfer Singed to protect players from the sun's harmful rays.
Caitlyn and Vi Have a Secret Buff
Caitlyn and Vi, as Piltover's best crime fighters, have a helpful Easter egg in the form of an in-game buff.
You should be greeted with a unique on-the-case buff with the brief definition of "Piltover's Finest" if you draft the cops into a game. According to community forums, when both champions work together to score a takedown, the buff gives each of them one more gold.
It might not seem to be much, but it provides a charming motivation for the Piltover gang to plan some hot pursuits on the Rift.
